Welcome to Perspectives, the website of Brenda Kizor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Brenda Kizor has over 14 years counseling experience; she has been practicing in Carson City since 2000.
Brenda takes clients' confidentiality very seriously and takes great care to insure every client's privacy.
Her primary theoretical orientation is cognitive behavioral. This orientation can best be summarized by the stoic philosopher, Epictetus, who noted, "Men are disturbed not by events, but by the views they take of them." Changing how one thinks of the world, then becomes a major goal in cognitive behavioral therapy. She also incorporates some client-centered and behavioral approaches depending on the particular individual, couple's or family's needs. These approaches are discussed with clients during the first session.
Brenda is a member of several professional organizations including:
American Counseling Association
International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors
National Board for Certified Counselors
Brenda also provides EMDR, court mandated counseling in anger management and domestic violence, and play therapy.
