Dale has traveled all over North America attending DUI training and educational courses. Dale is well versed on the administration, observation and scoring of the three standardized field sobriety tests developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) and adopted by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. These three standardized field sobriety tests, the “Walk and Turn,” the “One Leg Stand” and the “Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus,” are frequently utilized by southern Nevada law enforcement agencies during their pre-arrest DUI screening investigations. Dale is also educated and familiar with NHTSA’s 12 step protocol for the detection of drugs in DUI cases (DRE protocol). Additionally, Dale has received extensive training on the operation, calibration and underlying science of the Intoxilyzer 5000, 5000EN and 8000 evidentiary breath testing devices. Nevada uses the 8000 model to determine blood alcohol concentrations. Dale has also personally worked with and been trained on the operation of various preliminary breath testing devices including the Intoxilyzer 400 and the Intoxilyzer S-D2. Dale is a member of the Nevada Bar Association, Clark County Bar Association, the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice, the Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Nevada Justice Association and the National College of DUI Defense.
